With an all-electric future ahead of 2030, Aston Martin has unwrapped the farewell version of the DBS in preparation for the moniker’s impending renewed break.
Gaydon’s strongest definitive rendition
Resurrected five years ago as a replacement for the Vanquish, which was succeeded by the DBS V12 from 2007 to 2012, the final version bears the designation 770 Ultimate, officially making it the Gaydon-based marque’s most powerful production combustion engine car as always made.
Limited to 499 examples, 300 coupes and 199 Volante convertibles, the 770 Ultimate inherits the AMG-originated 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 from the standard DBS, albeit with new air and ignition travel and an increase by 7% in Turbo Boost, which increases power to 770 horsepower (hp) or 566 kW.

33 kW more than the regular DBS with the same torque of 900 Nm, the claimed top speed of 340 km/h is also identical, without details of the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h being announced.

Aside from its extra grunt, which is again routed to the rear wheels via an eight-speed Touchtronic automatic transmission, Aston has tweaked the chassis of what will be known as the DBS Superleggera until 2021, revising the steering, fitting a new front crossmember and re-software voted for the adaptive dampers.
While retaining the standard DBS limited-slip differential, the otherwise optional carbon-ceramic brakes have been fitted to the 770 Ultimate, meaning dimensions of 410mm for the front discs and 360mm for the rear discs.

The differences
Mounted on 21-inch multi-spoke satin silver or satin black alloy wheels with an optional diamond-turned finish inspired by those of the unique Victorwrapped in Pirelli PZero tires, the DBS 770 Ultimate’s additional exterior add-ons consist of a new hood with deeper air intakes, a model-specific front splitter and a wider grille for improved cooling.
New carbon treadplates and a redesigned diffuser complete the exterior, along with what Aston Martin calls twill carbon fiber detailing on the mirror caps, windshield surround and side air vents.

Inside, unique interior touches include Sport Plus seats upholstered in semi-aniline leather and Alcantara with a so-called knurled, perforated quilting pattern, a laser-etched DBS 770 Ultimate badge on the front armrest, carbon-fiber shift paddles, and a special Builder’s plaque that identifies the selected model as one of the Coupés or Volantes.
Will it come to South Africa?
Available to order now for deliveries starting in the third quarter of the year, it is currently unknown if any of the 499 DBS 770 Ultimate will or has been assigned to South Africa.
