Australian Formula Ford driver Jack Clifford will move up to the GB4 Championship in 2023
Australian Formula Ford driver Jack Clifford will move up to the GB4 Championship in 2023 with Kevin Mills Racing.
He will drive a Tatuus GB4 in the seven-round series for the team that wins the 2022 teams’ championship.
Clifford’s signing complements Australia’s links in the GB3 feeder series after announcing that Evans GP would compete in the entry-level British Championship with 2022 S5000 Tasman Series runner-up Cooper Webster named the team’s first driver.
The 17-year-old’s international foray follows a season in the Victorian Formula Ford Series that yielded multiple podiums and a one-off appearance in the Australian Formula Ford Series.
“I’m thrilled to be competing in the GB4 Championship in Great Britain this year,” said Clifford.
“It is a big step up the motorsport ladder, especially coming from Australia.
“It’s a great stepping stone category as it competes on world-class circuits, has tremendous presence and a great standard of riding.
“I’m excited to become one with the Tatuus GB4 car and the Kevin Mills Racing Team and can’t wait to race as I take this next step in my career.
“The learning curve in England is much steeper than in Australia and one that will improve my driving throughout the year.
“I look forward to working with the 2022 Team Championship winners, the Kevin Mills Racing Team.”
Team boss Kevin Mills welcomed Clifford to the team.
“We’re really looking forward to working with Jack at the 2023 GB4 Championship,” said Mills.
“He comes to us from Australia with some good Formula Ford experience and we will work very hard to help him adapt to slicks and wings.â€
The opening round of the 2023 GB4 Championship will take place at Oulton Park International Circuit from 7th to 10th April.
