Busch Light presents a $2 million prize to the fan if Kevin Harvick wins the Daytona 500

(WTAJ) – Longtime NASCAR sponsor Anheuser-Busch is offering fans a chance at a $2 million win if a legendary driver wins the 2023 Daytona 500.

The beer brand makes racing fans cheer NASCAR Cup Series Champion Kevin Harvick who they think has what it takes to win the Great American Race. The company said they’re so confident he’ll win and are giving away $2 million to one lucky fan who votes for Harvick as the favorite to win.

Fans aged 21 and over can enter the competition online by visiting busch.com/winthepurse. The promotion started on Friday January 13th and can be entered until Saturday February 18th.

Busch Light has been a Harvick sponsor for over seven years and has previously offered fans various promotions including a chance to get a real job on Harvick’s racing team, turning one of Harvick’s race cars into Busch Light collection cans and letting the fans name it a NASCAR race.

“Our relationship with Kevin goes beyond what we ever thought possible as a sponsor at NASCAR,” said Anheuser-Busch director of marketing Krystyn Stow. “We want to go BIG in his final season and rally his fans to support him in his final Daytona 500, starting the most explosive season of his career. We will be at his side in Victory Lane with cold bush lights throughout the season.”

Harvick will climb into his #4 Ford Mustang to compete in his final Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 19th. He announced his retirement from NASCAR on Thursday, January 12 and will retire at the conclusion of the 2023 season.

“There are so many factors that go into building a successful career like the one I’ve been blessed with, but without a doubt the support of my fans would be something I couldn’t have done without,” Harvick said in a statement by Busch Light. “Busch Light has always seen that, put the fans first and led the battle cry. For my last race at Daytona, there really isn’t a better gesture than sharing the win with those who helped bring me here. I am grateful to Busch Light for stepping up and making this possible.”

Harvick, also known by his nickname “The Closer,” won the Daytona 500 in 2007, where he crossed the checkered flag and edged out veteran driver Mark Martin at the finish line. Harvick drove for Richard Childress Racing at the time.

After Harvick began driving for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2014, he continued to win at other Crown Jewel races, winning his only Cup Series championship that same year. However, since 2007 he has not returned to victory at the Daytona 500.

In 2021, Harvick finished the 500 in fourth after starting the race in eighth. His attempt in the 2022 edition of the race had ended early when he was involved in a six-car crash on lap 190.

Harvick was driving in the top 10 at the time of the accident and was forced to retire due to NASCAR’s damaged vehicle policy. Harvick was 30th of 40 cars.
