First introduced as a concept over a decade ago, the Dodge Hornet is now a real vehicle. Although the production version shares the concept’s name, it’s visibly different – and shares a thing or two with its Stellantis cousin, the Alfa Romeo Tonale.
At launch, the 2023 Dodge Hornet was priced under $30,000. That sounded like a good deal for interested buyers, tempting 14,000 pre-orders within days. Now that the Hornet configurator is online, we’ve found that base GT trim starts at $29,995, but without the mandatory target fee. The GT Plus starts at $34,995.

We spent our nonexistent cash to check how much the most expensive 2023 Dodge Hornet would cost. Starting with the GT Plus trim, the colors would be the first choice. If you opt for the 8 Ball (black) and Q Ball (white) exterior colors, you won’t be charged a dime, but if you opt for the Blue Steele starting color and special Acapulco gold asked for an additional $595. We chose the former.
Next the wheels. A set of 17-inch silver-tone aluminum wheels is standard, but you can upgrade to larger sets – both are included in their respective packages. We went with the 20-inch J Abyss aluminum wheels that come with the $2,995 Track Pack. Alcantara seats, red-painted brake calipers, bright pedals, dual-mode suspension, aluminum door sills and a sporty leather steering wheel are all included in the Track Pack.
To further customize our fictional Hornet, we’ve added the $1,995 GT Blacktop Package (dark “GT” and “Hornet” badging plus gloss black painted daylight aperture strips and mirror caps) and the $2,245 Tech Plus Package, which a number of driving nannies add to the equipment list.
Notably, the plug-in hybrid Hornet R/T is not in the configurator at this time, so the only option is the 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 265 hp (198 kilowatts) and 295 pound-feet (400 newton meters) of torque. This is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels.
With options totaling $7,830 plus the $1,595 target fee, the most expensive 2023 Dodge Hornet is $44,420.
