NASCAR made an important announcement regarding The Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum on Sunday night.
It announced that USC quarterback Caleb Williams will wave the green flag for the race, which will be held in two weeks.
That makes Williams the honorary starter of the event.
This race is an annual pre-season race held just before the Daytona 500 every February. It was held in Daytona from 1979 to 2022, when the race was moved to Los Angeles.
Williams is a big guest for this race, having been electric at USC last season. He finished with 4,537 yards through the air, 42 touchdowns and five interceptions in taking home the Heisman Trophy.
If he can have another season like this next year, he’s an easy bet to finish in the top three in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Bush Light Clash at the LA Coliseum begins February 5 at 8:00 p.m. ET and will be televised by FOX.
