Sam Vogel hopes to celebrate his hundredth race in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in style this weekend in Diriyah E-Prixafter Jaguar TCS Racing Driver experienced a miserable start to Gen3 and the 2022/23 season.
the Mexico City E-Prix was of no concern to Bird, who suffered a technical issue in FP2 which affected his time on track. As a result, he struggled in qualifying and ended up 21st on the grid. That wasn’t really that bad, because the Formula E veteran retired in the first laps after another technical defect.
It was a disappointing start in Gen3 for Bird; However, looking ahead to this week’s double header in Diriyah, the Brit is “positive” about the two rounds ahead. the Riyadh Street Circuit has been a good spot for Bird over the years as he has twice clinched victory at Diriyah – he also holds the lap record. Most importantly, it’s his 100th race in the series, meaning he wants a special result to celebrate the occasion.
„I have fond memories of competing in the Diriyah E-Prix as I have won the race twice before and currently hold the fastest lap record I set last year. While the result in Mexico City was disappointing, we learned from the data and I’m looking forward to the next two rounds. It’s my 100thth“Racing in Formula E that I can hardly believe and I would like to honor that with a decent result.”
“I feel motivated to finish higher” – Mitch Evans
On the other side of the Jaguar garage, Mitch Evans hoping for a better weekend than the Autodromo Hermanos Rodraguezwhere the New Zealander finished eighth.
Despite scoring points, Evans was hoping for a lot more from the first race of the season as the Jaguar I-TYPE 6 showed “lots of pace and efficiency”. The Diriyah E-Prix has been a mixed venue for Evans over the years, with the 28-year-old having claimed a podium at the venue while three of his last five results at the circuit have been non-points.
After picking up some points in Mexico City, Evans “feels motivated to do better this weekend” where he hopes to really spark his 2022-23 season.
“After finishing eighth in the opening round of the season, I’m motivated to do even better and get more points. I know the Jaguar I-TYPE 6 has a lot of pace and efficiency and I’ve been working closely with the team to prepare for the challenges Diriyah will bring.”
