Sting Ray Robb will drive the Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing entry in the 2023 IndyCar Series.

The 21-year-old’s contract means He is the last driver to be confirmed for the upcoming season as far as full-time competitors are concernedand will see him share the DCR stable with David Malukas who was also born in September 2001.

Robb comes to the roster after winning the 2020 Indy Pro 2000 Championship and finishing second in last year’s Indy NXT.

“This is an opportunity — a dream — that’s been worked on for a long time,” said the Idaho native.

“I’m honored to work with Dale Coyne, Rick Ware and the entire organization. I’m excited and grateful to be on the grid for the NTT IndyCar Series in 2023.

„We had a great first test together in early January and I was very impressed with the efficiency of the DCR with RWR teams and how well we worked together on our first day.

“Dale Coyne Racing has a historically outstanding program that has been successful with many drivers and most recently with young talented drivers.

“I look forward to continuing this trend and expect some strong results as we enter my rookie season.”

Robb takes delivery of the #51 Honda Dallara driven by Takuma Sato, who was recently announced as the oval track driver for Chip Ganassi Racing’s number 11 for the upcoming season.

His standard will be a driver who impressed many in his Indianapolis 500 debutand again when Second in Gatewaybefore narrowly missing out on top rookie honors, namely Malukas.

Dale Coyne said, “We are very excited to have Sting Ray join our team.

“He has had a very strong Indy NXT season and has impressed us, doing very well in our test earlier this month.

“I think he and David will make a great pairing. With David picking up where he left off last year and Sting Ray looking to do well in his rookie season, we have two young and eager riders who I think are to be reckoned with.”

Co-owner Rick Ware added, “Dale and I spent a lot of off-season testing and discussing driver options.

“Bringing Sting Ray Robb on board to compete for the IndyCar Rookie of the Year Championship and Indy 500 Rookie of the Race honors is pretty incredible. He’s young and has already had several years on the IndyCar ladder system.

“I’m really looking forward to another fresh rider and personality on the #51 team and partnership platforms.

“With Sting Ray’s street track experience and Dale’s oval track program, we’re very optimistic.â€

The IndyCar Open pre-season test takes place on February 2-3 at The Thermal Club before the first racing event of 2023 takes place on the streets of St. Petersburg on March 3-5.
