EarthCruiser, an Oregon-based adventure vehicle manufacturer, designs specifically for electric truck to instantly enhance your next adventure.
EarthCruiser is developing a slide-in camper for electric trucks
Some brands are welcoming the change as the transition to zero-emission electric mobility accelerates. EarthCruiser says it has seen the move to electric vehicles coming for years. Company founder Lance Gillies says:
We have closely followed the development of EV vehicles and waited until the time is right and the time is now. We’re a company that loves to keep discovering, innovating and testing until we get it right. Our extensive experience building world-renowned expedition vehicles makes it easier for us to get into electric platforms compared to competitors.
To keep up with the trend, the company says Extension to overland products for electric vehicles, in particular trucks.
According to EarthCruiser, electric vehicles with “smooth handling, breathtaking power and incredible off-road capabilities” are opening new doors in the overlapping market. As you can see, the camper features a fully opening roof design that offers plenty of living space.
It also appears to include solar panels that can help charge your electric truck on the go and off the grid. EarthCruise is working with “key domestic automakers” as the design progresses.
The company is currently only releasing a teaser for the slide-in camper, with more details expected later this year. However, they do work with potential buyers to find the right accessory for them through their fully refundable $100 deposit program. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
Electrek’s take
The idea of a detachable RV for electric trucks isn’t necessarily new, but it’s something to watch as brands transition their businesses to the EV era.
Several companies have designed bed-integrated motorhomes for the Tesla Cybertruck, like Space Campers’ $24,000 option with toilet, bed and kitchen included. Or Cyberlander, who develops one that sits flush with the Cybertruck, increasing efficiency and reducing drag.

In addition, Loki Expedition has launched his Basecamp – Rivian Editionspecially developed for the R1T.
With several new electric trucks coming to market such as RAM revolution, Tesla Cybertruckand Silverado EVto name a few, detachable campers like this one could be game-changing for explorers out there. I may have to buy an electric truck just to take advantage of the adventures I could have with one of these.
With all of these companies working to develop one, we should soon see at least one of them going into production.
