Ever since he became a prominent figure in hip-hop, ti regrettably spent part of his fortune on lavish items that brought him fleeting happiness.
From expensive luxury cars to spending millions on clothes, the rapper said there was once a time when he considered “just tossing in the bag” a way of life, though he’s now outgrown those spending habits.
In the latest episode of NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, the founder of Grand Hustle Records revealed he’s one of the less intelligent purchases ever dealt with a house.
The self-proclaimed King of the South recalled that he and Tiny were looking for a new home when they set their sights on a home on Lake Spivey in Jonesboro, a suburb about 20 minutes south of Atlanta. “It was her dream to stay on the water, on the lake,” TI said
He said they went through the process of making an offer, having accepted it, and being ready to move on if the sale fell through. “I don’t know if a neighbor came out and saw us looking at it, (but) somehow the seller of the house inquired that they weren’t going to sell it to us,” TI said, noting that he unsure of the seller’s reasons but wondered if it was “because I was a rapper, because I was young, because I’m black, (or) a combination of all three, but they wouldn’t sell to us.” .”
The ‘Libra’ artist said seeing the agony on Tiny’s face was enough for him to take the issue personally, so the couple literally took matters into their own hands. He explained: “We started knocking from door to door. I started riding around and finding houses, “I’b stay there” (points).
“We stopped, ‘Hey, everybody want to sell a house?’ And we found one, the one I live in now by the lake, it was a middle-aged Indian family. … He only built the house maybe two or three years ago. … I overpaid him about $500,000 and that was one of the stupidest things. … That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever done.”
According to multiple real estate website reports, TI has forked $4.26 million in 2006. The mega mansion features a 3 acre lot, has five bedrooms, seven full baths, four stories and a personal dock to Lake Spivey. They showed viewers some of the scope in the series spinoff TI & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle renovations which were completed in the home in 2019.
He continued: “We have so many memories in the house, raised a family, children grew up, that’s the house you all see on Family Hustle.” The couple’s original series, TI & Tiny: Family Hustle, aired on VH1 in 2011.
